Trees on Every Hill Project Inauguration

Responsible Citizens  iYakkam (RCi) organised a Seed ball sowing festival on the hillocks in the southern end of the Thiruvannamalai District in Tamizhnadu at Melpachar Village & Malayanoor Chekkadi Village.
திருவண்ணாமலை மாவட்டத்தின் தெற்கு கோடியில் உள்ள மேல்பச்சார் மற்றும்  மலையனுர் செக்கடி கிராமங்களில் மலைகளில் விதை பந்துகளை போடும் விழாவினை பொறுப்புள்ள  குடிமக்கள் இயக்கம் ஏற்பாடு செய்தது.

We mooted the idea to start our TREES ON EVERY HILL project from Thiruvannamalai district & from the 1st Village -Melpachar, where River Thenpennai enters the district. We sought the permission from District Forest Officer Mr. R. Kirubhashankkar, I.F.S. -Thiruvannamalai District 

& Chief Educational Officer, Thiruvannamalai District, Mr. Jeyakumar, M.Sc., B.Ed. M.Phil as the project involved school & college children sowing seeds on the hills of Thiruvannamalai district. So it involved two vital departments of Govt. of Tamilnadu. The enthusiasm with which both the officers showed on hearing about this ambitious project gave us lot of enthusiasm in organising the event. Brighter days ahead for Thiruvannamalai District with the efficient officers at the helm of affairs.
மலைகள் தோறும் மரங்கள்  திட்டத்தை திருவண்ணாமலை மாவட்டத்தில்  தென்பெண்ணை ஆறு  முதலில் தொடும் கிராமமான மேல்பாச்சார் கிராமத்தில் தொடங்கி  வைக்க அனுமதி  கோரி மாவட்ட வனத்துறை அலுவலர் திரு.இரா.கிருபாசங்கர் , இ.ஆ .ப . அவர்களையும் மாவட்ட முதன்மை  கல்வித்துறை அலுவலர்திரு. ஜெயகுமார்,M.Sc., B.Ed. M.Phil  அவர்களையும் அணுகினோம். இரண்டு அதிகாரிகளுமே இந்த திட்டத்தை முழுவதுமாக கேட்டறிந்து மிகவும் ஊக்கப்படுத்தினர். இத்தகைய நல்ல ஊக்கமும் முனைப்பும் உள்ள அரசு அதிகாரிகள்  மூலமாக திருவண்ணாமலை மாவட்டம் மிகவும் மேன்மை அடையும்  என்ற நம்பிக்கை பிறந்தது.

In tune with the busy schedule of both the higher officials, it was decided to conduct the event on 20th August 2018 at Melpachar Village Middle School. 
இரண்டு  உயர் அதிகாரிகளின் பணிச்சுமையை  கருத்தில் கொண்டு 20 ஆகஸ்ட் 2018 அன்று மேல்பாச்சார் நடு நிலை பள்ளியில் நிகழ்ச்சி நடத்த  முடிவானது.

RCi had requested all the neighbouring villages schools to enable their wards to prepare the seed balls in two weeks time.  Children from Classes 4th to 8th rose to the occasion & did their best .

பொறுப்புள்ள குடிமக்கள் இயக்கம்  மேல்பாச்சாரின் அண்டை கிராமங்களில் உள்ள பள்ளிகளிலும் விதை பந்துகளை தயாரிக்க கோரிக்கை வைத்தது. நான்காவது முதல் எட்டாவது  வரையிலான பள்ளி மாணவர்கள் உற்சாகமாக  முன்வந்து தங்களின் சிறப்பான  செயல்பாட்டினை வெளிப்படுத்தினார்கள்.

Unexpectedly, due to the death of our beloved former Prime Minister Shri. Atal Behari Vajapayee on 16th August 2018, State had declared one week mourning & Both the officials could not participate in person but sent their greetings. DFO Shri. R. Kirubashankkar had deputed Asst. Chief Conservator of Forests, Thiruvannamalai Mr. Rajakumar to attend the event on his behalf & the Ranger, Thanipadi Range graced the occasion along with the Forester & Guards. 

நமது நாட்டின்  முன்னாள் பிரதம மந்திரி திரு. அடல் பிஹாரி வாஜ்பேயி அவர்கள் 16.ஆகஸ்ட் .2018 ல் இயற்கை எய்தியதால், ஒரு வார துக்கம் அரசால் மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்டதால் மாவட்ட வனத்துறை அலுவலரால் நிகழ்ச்சியில் பங்கு கொள்ள இயலவில்லை , அதனால் அவர் சார்பாக மாவட்ட  உதவி வன பாதுகாவலர் திரு. இராஜகுமார் அவர்களும் தானிப்பாடி சரக வன காவலர் மற்றும் வனத்துறையினர் கலந்துக் கொண்டனர்.

The Chief Guest inaugurated the event by lighting the traditional lamp & acknowledged our mission to green the Thiruvannamalai district especially the mountainous ranges of the districts. He emphasized to the villagers to make use of various schemes of forest department especially the scheme for free tree saplings scheme per acre to green the agricultural lands in the districts. 

முதன்மை  விருந்தினர் பேசுகையில் மலைகள்  தோறும் மரங்கள் திட்டத்தின் நோக்கத்தினை மிகவும் பாராட்டி வனங்கள் பசுமையாக  இருக்க வேண்டியதன் அவசியத்தை எடுத்துரைத்தார் . வனத்துறை மூலமாக வழங்கப்படும் வரும்  இலவச  மர கன்றுகள் வழங்கும்  திட்டத்தை பயன்படுத்தி விவசாயிகள்  தங்கள்  நிலங்களை பசுமையாக்க கேட்டுக் கொண்டார்.

He requested the villagers not to take the goats inside the forests & help the forest department in preserving the rare species of flora & fauna. He also highlighted that the current flood & devastation in Kerala is because of severe tree felling in Kerala hill forests.

அவர் மேலும்  கிராம மக்கள்  ஆடுகளை காட்டு பகுதிகளில்  மேய்க்க வேண்டாம் என்றும் காடுகளையும் விலங்குகளையும் பாதுகாக்க  வனத்துறைக்கு உதவுமாறு அன்புடன் கேட்டுக் கொண்டார் . கேரளாவில் இப்பொழுது  பெய்து வரும் அடை மழையினால் ஏற்படும்  நிலைச் சரிவிற்கும்  சேதத்திற்கும் மலைகள் மீது  இருந்த மரக்காடுகளை வெட்டி வீழ்த்தியதுதான்  காரணம்  என்று  எடுத்துரைத்தார்.

ACF also released the Trees on Hills Project action plan copy & handed over the first copy to the Patron of the School Shri. S. Ramasamy. Ranger also released one copy & handed over the copy to former Village head.

மா .உ .வன பாதுகாவலர் மலைகள் தோறும் மரங்கள்  செயல் திட்டத்தின் முதல்  பிரதியை  வெளியிட்டு  அதன்  முதல் பிரதியை பள்ளியின் புரவலர் திரு. ச. இராமசாமி  அய்யாவிடம்  வழங்கினார் . அதே போல்  சரக வனக்காவலர்  அவர்களும்  ஒரு பிரதியினை கிராம முன்னாள்  தலைவரிடம்  வழங்கினார். 

ACF inaugurated the Children's march towards the hills by distributing the seeds made by them in their own hands & accompanied them to the hillock on the road between Melpachar & Mothakkal. 

உதவி வன பாதுகாவலர் அவர்கள் மாணவர்களின் மலைகள் நோக்கிய  நடைப்பயணத்தை மாணவர்கள் கையினாலேயே  செய்த விதை பந்துகளை எடுத்துக்  கொடுத்து துவக்கி வைத்தார் . மேலும் மாணவர்கள்  விதை பந்துகளை  மலை குன்றில் இடும் போதும்  அவர்களுக்கு  வழிக்காட்டி  நிகழ்ச்சியின் முடிவில் மாணவர்களுக்கு  இனிப்பும்  வழங்கினார். 

School children performed with great gusto after the inauguration of the event by lighting the lamp by the Chief Guest. 

தலைமை விருந்தினர் விழாவினை தொடங்கியபின் பள்ளி மாணவர்கள்  தேசிய  ஒருமைப்பாட்டை வலியுறுத்தி நடன நிழ்ச்சியினை வழங்கினார்கள்.

Middle School Head Mistress Ms. Punitha welcomed the gathering. Patron of the school Mr. S. Ramasamy thanked the gathering. 

பள்ளியின் தலைமை ஆசிரியர் திருமதி. புனிதா வரவேற்புரை வழங்கினார். பள்ளியின் புரவலர் திரு. ச. இராமசாமி அய்யா  அவர்கள் நன்றியுரை ஆற்றினார்கள் . கிராம வனக்குழு தலைவர் நிழச்சியில் கலந்துக் கொண்டு சிறப்பித்தார்.

Responsible Citizens iYakkam Initiator Mr. S. Krishnakumar thanked the Forest & Education department for accepting the initiative of RCi to conduct programme in every village in Thiruvannamalai district especially on the river banks of Thenpennai river & the hills where the rivulets originate & feeds the big river. He explained the reason for choosing MELPACHAR to inaugurate the TREES ON EVERY HILL project. Melpachar is the 1st village where thenpennai river enters Thiruvannamalai district.

பொறுப்புள்ள குடிமக்கள்  இயக்கத்தின்  துவக்குனர் திரு. ச. கிருஷ்ண குமார் இந்த  திட்டத்தின்  முதல் நிகழ்ச்சியை நடத்திக் கொடுப்பதற்கும்  மாவட்டத்தில் பல்வேறு கிராமங்களிலும் இது  போன்று  நிகழ்ச்சி நடத்துவதற்கு  அனுமதி  அளித்த  வனத்துறைக்கும் பள்ளிக் கல்வித்துறைக்கும் நன்றி தெரிவித்தார். மாவட்டத்தில் மலைகள் உள்ள ஓடைகள் உற்பத்தியாகும் அனைத்து  கிராமங்களிலும் விதை பந்துகள் தூவவும் , மரக்கன்றுகள் நடும் நிகழ்ச்சிகள் தொடர்ந்து நடைபெறும் என்று கூறினார்.  தென்பெண்ணை ஆறு  திருவண்ணாமலை மாவட்டத்தில்  நுழையும்  முதல் கிராமம்  என்பதாலேயே மேல்பாச்சார்  கிராமத்தை திட்டத்தினை துவங்குவதற்கான முதல்  கிராமமாக  தேர்ந்து எடுத்ததாக  கூறினார்.

Mr. Krishnakumar also decoded the village name MELPACHAR from Tamil grammar - Merrkulrinthu paayum aaru (The river flowing from the west). Gradually with time, people have started calling it colloquially as Melpasar. So he said that even the whole of Tamil nadu can be named as Melpachar as all the rivers flowing in Tamilnadu are originating from western ghats only like Kaveri, Thenpennai, Palar, Vaigai, Thamirabarani etc... 

தமிழ் இலக்கணப் படி "மேற்கிலிருந்து பாயும் ஆறு" என்பது பேச்சு வழக்கில்  மருவி "மேல்பாச்சார்" ஆகியிருக்க  வேண்டும்  என்று கூறினார். தமிழிநாட்டில் ஓடும்  நதிகளான காவிரி,தென்பெண்ணை , பாலாறு , வைகை , தாமிரபரணி ஆகிய ஆறுகள் அனைத்துமே  மேற்கிலிருந்தே பாய்ந்து  வருவதால் தமிழ்நாடே மேல்பாச்சார் தான்  என்கிறார்.

He said the children of this village will change the total dimension of the village as they will nurture the nature from here on.

இன்றிலிருந்து கிராமத்தின்  சிறுவர்கள் இந்த கிராமத்தின்  அடையாளத்தையே தங்களின் மரம் காக்கும்  நடும் செயல்களால் மாற்றி அமைத்துவிடுவார்கள் என்று தான்  நம்புவதாக கூறினார் .

TREE is my religion

RCi initiator thanked the Thiruvannamalai Trees growers association president Mr. Jegam Radhakrishnan who has been spearheading the tree growing activities in Thiruvannamalai district, who is instrumental in bringing both the departments to work in tandem for the welfare of this district. இந்த விழாவினை சிறப்பாக  ஒருங்கிணைத்து கொடுத்ததற்காக மரம்  வளர்ப்போர் சங்கத் தலைவர்  திரு. ஜெகம்  இராதாகிருஷ்ணன்  அய்யாவிற்கு தன் நன்றிகளை தெரிவித்தார். 

This day he said is to be inscribed as golden day in the history of Thiruvannamalai district. Today it is not just seed sowing day on hills but seed sowing on the minds of young children. If children is pro active on tree planting , then it will change the mindset of parents too. 

இந்த  நாள் திருவண்ணாமலை  மாவட்டத்தின்  வரலாற்றில் ஒரு பொன்னாள் என்றார். இது  மலைகளில்  மட்டும்  விதை  போடும்  நிகழ்ச்சி இல்லை இது மாணவர்களின்  மனதில் விதை  போடும்  நிகழ்ச்சி என்றார். மாணவர்கள் மூலமாக அவர்களின் பெற்றோரையும் இந்த  செய்தி சென்று சேரும் என்று தான்  நம்புவதாக கூறினார் .

He then added that Tamilnadu need not depend on neighbouring states for water if we take care of the trees on the hills & they will fetch us all the water needed. Even if Karnataka closes the dams on Thenpennai, Tamilnadu can still make the river flow from the hills in Krishnagiri, Dharamapuri & Thiruvannamalai districts.
மலைகளில்  இருக்கும் மரங்களை  காப்பாற்றினால் தண்ணீருக்காக தமிழ்நாடு அண்டை மாநிலங்களை  நம்பியிருக்க வேண்டாம் என்றார். கர்நாடகா தென்பெண்ணையில் அணை கட்டி அதனை மூடியே வைத்திருந்தாலும் தமிழ்நாட்டால் கிருஷ்ணகிரி , தருமபுரி , திருவண்ணாமலை மாவட்டங்களில்  உள்ள மலைகளை  கொண்டே தென்பெண்ணையில்  தண்ணீர் ஓட செய்ய முடியும்  என்றார்.

Responsible Citizens iYakkam appreciated the great efforts of Forest department of Thiruvannamalai district in their forest conservation efforts & education department in increasing the quality of education every day.  He also thanked Isha project green hands team members who also joined the event & gave a video presentation to the school students on trees & seed balls. M/s. Divya Rasa, Thiruvannamalai team joined this event with all their wards of special children to actively participate in this event.

வனங்களை வளங்களை பாதுகாப்பதில் வனத்துறையின் மகத்தான பங்களிப்பையும் மாணவர்களின் கல்வித்தரத்தினை  உயர்த்துவதில்  பள்ளி காலில்வித்துறையினையும் பொறுப்புள்ள குடிமக்கள்  இயக்கம்  வெகுவாக  பாராட்டுவதாக கூறினார் . ஈஷாவின்  பசுமை கரங்கள் திட்டத்தினர் இந்த  நிகழ்ச்சியில் கலந்துக்க கொண்டு மாணவர்களுக்கு  மரங்களின் அவசியத்தை பற்றி உணர்த்தியதற்கு நன்றி தெரிவித்தார். சிறப்பு  குழந்தைகளுக்கான திவ்ய ரசா பள்ளியினையும் அவர்கள்  இந்த  நிகழ்ச்சியில்  பங்கு  கொண்டதற்கு  நன்றி தெரிவித்தார்.

School Teacher Mr. Sekar delivered a poetry on trees & environment. School teachers Mr. Thambi Durai & Mr. Gunasekar were instrumental in coordination behind the screen. மரங்கள்  மற்றும் இயற்கை சூழல்  பற்றி பள்ளியின் ஆசிரியர் திரு. சேகர் கவிதை வாசித்தார். ஆசிரியர்கள் திரு. தம்பித்துரை , திரு . குண சேகர் மற்றும்  இதர ஆசிரிய பெருமக்கள் நிகழ்ச்சி சிறப்பாக நடந்திட உதவியாக  இருந்தனர்.

ACF Mr. Rajkumar planted one tree on the school premises & then joined the rally of the students to the hillock on the roads of Melpachar to Mothakkal road.

ACF also distributed sweets to the students who completed their mission of sowing the seed balls on the hillocks & appreciated the sincere efforts of School administration, Villagers & RCi team.

முதன்மை  விருந்தினர்  அவர்கள்  மலைக் குன்று வரை  நடந்து சென்று  விதை பந்துகளை இட்ட மாணவர்களுக்கு இனிப்பு  வழங்கினார்கள். மேலும் பள்ளி நிர்வாகம், கிராம மக்கள் , மற்றும்  பொறுப்புள்ள குடிமக்கள்  இயக்கத்தினை  நிகழ்ச்சி நடத்தியதற்கு பாராட்டினார்.

School students of Malayanoor Chekkady Middle school :

Meanwhile School students of Malayanoor Chekkady school were also ready with 7200 seed balls + 1000 nos of Palm Seeds. Since it was late in the evening, we could not take the Chief Guest to Malayanoor Chekkady school on 20th Aug. So RCi initiator, went to the Malayanoor chekkady school on 21st August 2018 to be part of the event to plant 1000 nos of Palm seeds along the banks of the Sitheri ( lake of Malayanoor chekkady village ) organised efficiently by the Head Master & Teachers Mr. Sanjeevi Kumar & Mr. Sekar. இதே நேரத்தில் மலையனூர் செக்கடி கிராமத்தில்  இருக்கும்  பள்ளியிலும்  மாணவர்கள் விதை பந்து  இடும்  நிகழ்வில் காத்து  கொண்டிருந்தனர் . ஆனால்  மேல்பாச்சாரில் நிகழ்ச்சி முடிய  மாலை 5 வரை ஆனதால்  இந்த பள்ளிக் குழந்தைகளை  காத்து  வைக்க விரும்பாமல் மறுநாள்  21 ஆகஸ்ட் 2018 பொ .கு. இயக்க  துவக்குனர் மலையனூர் செக்கடி பள்ளிக்கு சென்று அவர்கள் தயாரித்து வைத்து  இருந்த  7200 விதை பந்துகளையும் + 1000 பனை விதைகளையும்  பரிவை இட்டு மாணவர்களை உற்சாகப்படுத்தி , இந்த  நிகழ்ச்சியை  சிறப்பாக  ஒருங்கிணைத்த  தலைமை ஆசிரியர், ஆசிரியர்கள் திரு. சஞ்சீவி குமார் மற்றும் திரு. சேகர்  ஆகியோரை  வெகுவாக  பாராட்டினார்.

Students walked to the Lake from the school premises with the 1000 palm seeds & were chanting the project slogan of " MALAIGAL THORUM MARANGAL NATTU MEGATHIRKE ANAYAI KATTU ( plant trees on every hill to build a dam for clouds ) 

மாணவர்கள் பள்ளி  வளாகத்தில் இருந்து  மிகவும்  ஒழுங்குடன் மலையனூர் செக்கடி கிராமத்தில் உள்ள  சித்தேரி  வரைக்கும் ஆயிரம் பனை விதைகளை  எடுத்து கொண்டு " மலைகள் தோறும் மரங்கள் நட்டு மேகத்திற்கே அணையை கட்டு " என்றே  முழங்கியவாறு சென்றனர்.

Within two hours 30 students dug small pits to plant 1000 palm seeds on the sitheri lake along the tank bund & on the lake bed under the guidance & initiative of School teachers.

இரண்டு  மணி நேரத்தில்  ஆசிரியர்களின்  வழிகாட்டுதலின் படி மாணவர்கள்  1000 சிறு  குழிகள் வெட்டி அதில் 1000 பனை விதைகளை ஏரியின் கரையிலும் , உள்  வரப்பிலும் நட்டு உற்சாகமாக  தங்களின் எதிர்காலத்திற்கு  பசுமையை  கூட்டினர்.

It was a pleasant surprise for every family along the route to the lake seeing the young children taking the responsibility to green their village lake. The energy & enthusiasm was very addictive. The spirit of the efforts was really superlative.

கிராமவாசிகளுக்கு  மாணவர்களின்  இந்த  பசுமை  முயற்சி வழி நெடுகிலும்  ஆச்ச்சரியத்தையும்  மகிழ்சசியையும் தந்தது. தங்கள் ஊர்  ஏரியின் பசுமையை கூட்ட  மாணவர்களின்  இந்த செயல் மிகவும் பாராட்டப்பட்டது . மாணவர்களின் உற்சாகம்  அனைவரையும் தொற்றிக்  கொள்ளும்படியாக இருந்தது.

Students enthusiasm at both the events reverberated on every hill surrounding the area. We are very sure that soon Thiruvannamalai district & gradually every district of Tamilnadu will be cooler to live with abundant water resources on every part of the state & farmers will be very happy to be in agriculture & producing grains in plenty to feed everyone. 

மாணவரிகளின் உற்சாகமான பங்கேற்பு இந்த இரண்டு கிராமங்களிலும்  உள்ள மலைகளில் எதிரொலித்தது.  இந்த  முயற்சி திருவண்ணாமலை மாவட்டம் மட்டுமல்லாது மொத்த தமிழ்நாட்டையுமே குளிர்வித்து  மழை பொழிவை உண்டாக்கி நீர் வளம் அதிகரித்து விவசாயம் பல்கி பெருகி தமிழகமே ஒரு  நிறைவான  மாநிலமாகி விடும்  என்ற நம்பிக்கையை  இந்த மலைகள் தோறும்  மரங்கள்  திட்டம் ஏற்படுத்துகிறது.
