திருவண்ணாமலையில் வன விலங்குகளுக்காக பழ மரங்கள் Fruit Trees for wild animals at Tiruvannamalai

 மலையோர கிராமங்களில் , வனங்களுக்கு அருகே இருக்கும் கிராமங்களிலும் விவசாயிகள் அதிகம் சந்திக்கும் சவால்கள் விளை நிலங்களில் விளைவிக்கும் பயிர்களை காட்டு விலங்குகள் -காட்டு பன்றி, மான்கள், குரங்குகள், மயில்கள் போன்றவைகளும் மற்றும் பெரிய காடுகள் அருகே இருக்கும் வயல்களில் யானை, புலி, சிறுத்தை போன்ற விலங்குகளும் பயிர்களை சேதப்படுத்துகின்றன.

காட்டு விலங்குகள் காடுகளில் போதிய உணவில்ல்லாததால் தான் பெரும்பாலும் காடுகளுக்கு அருகே இருக்கும் வயல்களுக்கு உணவு தேடி வருகின்றன. இதனால் காட்டு விலங்குகளுக்கு நிரந்தரமாக உணவு கிடைக்க பல வகையான பழ மரங்களை வளர்க்கும் முயற்சிகளை தொடர்ந்து பொறுப்புள்ள குடிமக்கள் இயக்கம் முயன்று வருகிறது.

கடந்த 30 நவம்பர் 2025 அன்று திருவண்ணாமலை மாவட்டம், மேல்பாச்சார் கிராமம் திரு தம்பி மலை அடிவாரத்தில் அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ள மலையில் இருந்து ஓடி வரும் மழை நீரை தேக்குவதற்காக கட்டப்பட்டுள்ள்   கசிவு நீர் குட்டையில்  பழ மரக் கன்றுகளை நட்டோம். 

இயற்கை ஆர்வலர் திரு ரமேஷ் அனுமகொண்டா அவர்கள் இந்த மரக் கன்றுகளை ஏற்பாடு செய்தார்.

• அவகடோ போன்ற கன்றுகளை தண்ணீர் வரும் பாதை அமைத்து குழிகள் எடுத்து எரு இட்டு கிராமத்தில் அருகே இருக்கும் விவசாய நிலங்களில் பயிர் வைக்கும் இளம் தம்பதியர் திரு வெங்கடேசன் - திருமதி வெண்ணிலா அவர்களின் கைகளால் நடவு செய்து தண்ணீர் விட்டோம். அவர்கள் இருவரும் கன்றுகள் மரமாகும் வரை  தண்ணீர் விட்டு வளர்த்து பாதுகாப்பதாக உறுதி அளித்தனர். இன்னும் சில வருடங்களில் இந்த மரங்கள் காய்க்க தொடங்கும் போது இந்த மலையில் வசிக்கும் அனைத்து விலங்குகளுக்கும் தேவையான பழங்கள் வருடம் முழுவதும் கிடைக்கும். அதனால் அந்த காட்டு வில்ங்குகள் காட்டிற்கு அருகில் இருக்கும் விவசாய நிலங்களில் ஏற்படுத்தும் பாதிப்பு குறையும். 

In the hilly villages and those located near forests, farmers frequently face the challenge of wild animals such as wild boars, deer, monkeys, and peacocks damaging their crops.  In fields near large forests, animals like elephants, tigers, and leopards also cause damage by attacking even the farmers.

Wild animals often venture into fields near forests in search of food due to a lack of sufficient food in the forests themselves. Therefore, the Responsible Citizens iyakkam is continuously striving to cultivate various fruit trees near forests to ensure a permanent food source for these wild animals.

On November 30, 2025, we planted fruit tree saplings in a percolation pond built to collect rainwater runoff at the foothills of Thiru Thambi Malai in Melpachar village, Tiruvannamalai district.

Nature Enthusiast & farmer Mr. Ramesh Anumukonda organised for the fruit saplings-

• Mango
• Jack fruit
• Guava
• Gooseberry
• Black berry
• Pomegranate
• Avacado
• Palm tree seeds

We ensured and made a water flow path for all the saplings along with pits with manure. We requested a young Couple Mr. Venkatesan & Ms. Vennila, who were doing farming in the adjacent field to plant all the saplings in the pits and they promised to protect the saplings till they become a tree. Once the trees starts yielding fruits, the wild animals will have enough fruits round the year and gradually wild  animals attacking the farm lands may reduce significantly.
