stop drinking tea Revive a river
A simple solution yet may sound ridiculous to many lovers of Tea.
Yes Tea gives you a refreshing, rejuvenating feeling but Tea estates on Hills are the reason for fall in Rain fall across many states.
Reason is simple. Before British arrived in India, Nilgiris Mountains in western ghats used to receive highest rainfall even higher than the most wettest place on Earth, Chirapunji in Meghalaya. Today the Coimbatore district at the foot hills of Nilgiris is reeling under severe water scarcity.
Same case with Darjeeling and many Assam (Asom) tea estates. Very recently there are reports coming from Sri Lanka that there is a concern in food shortage. Reason Ceylon Tea is world famous and exported world wide. But continuous exploitation of Hills for Tea has caused severe reduction in Rainfall in the Island country.
British, to destroy the Chinese economy , then a Tea Monopoly, introduced Tea cultivation in many parts of Asia.
What is Rain ?
Condensation of Water Vapours is called Rain. Water when it is heated up becomes vapour and to become water again the Vapour needs to be cooled to become flowable water. When the water vapours assemble, that we call as clouds, which move, tend to become water again on cooler mountains. Hills become cooler with more taller trees, as they block clouds and the winds which moves the clouds.
What is happening in tea estates ?
For easy harvesting and to fetch more tender leaves Tea plants are not allowed to grow more than 3 to 4 feet, which means it cannot stop or allow condensation as that of 100 feet tall trees. Every year large amount of water get evaporated from plants and Ocean to become clouds. If tall trees are there then vapour precipates as rain over a period of time gradually. But when there are no tall trees more & more clouds get accumulated in a region resulting accumulating in charged clouds to burst in to severe rain fall in a shorter period of time resulting in storms, landslides, floods and all related havoc.
How can you take responsibility in this climate change ?
Simple. We dont need legislation to Ban Tea, just stop drinking tea. So we all citizens if stop drinking tea, Tea estates wont be interested in producing tea. Every sip our lips drags from the cups are actually the rain clouds on top of the hill
Even if Tea is addiction, we can easily make tea from Tulasi , Pudina leaves and Hibiscus flower petals easily in every ones home. Lot of other herbs leaves can be a natural alternative to tea. Even Coffee & Cocoa are better alternatives as they are grown from the seeds of the Coffee & Cocoa tree as these trees are allowed by the industries to become a tree unlike in Tea.
So stop drinking Tea and revive a river.
Every drop makes a Ocean
& every sip stops Rain
Today is World's Rivers Day ( 26 Sep 2021 ), Every Responsible sip of Yours can revive a River.
